Hi at home, merry Christmas.

We have now been in Frederikshavn for 6 days, the time flies away. We are standing at the Flådestation on our nightwatch 2-4 and was thinking about writing home to you guys. Today we got the sad news, that we can’t show our relative the ship, we were looking forward to showing you our home we had the last 3 months. Anyway we will get the best out of it. In these days we are having fun with the down rigging. We are a lot of different teams like the fore-, main- and mizzenmast, engine department, catering (nice job!!) and the deck team (The best team ;))

Merle and I (Julie), are on the deck team and we clean the deck and organize the containers on shore.

Today it was the first day in 2 days we could walk on deck. There has been a big snowstorm and a lot of ice in the rigging. We could only walk down below, because the ice felt down from aloft. We have to go out with safety helmets and life vest and that gave a lot of laughs – but it was a good thing, because a lot of ice felt down. Because the first day with the snowstorm was the 1st of December we had a cozy time. There was a Christmas cookie workshop, and we are the first voyage in maybe 10 years who have the possibility to make Christmas cookies, and of course eat a lot while we were baking them. On the berth deck there was shown the new Christmas calendar on tv2 and then we continue with Natholdets Christmas calendar and of course jul på vesterbro. In the forward hall there was a movie going on.

Early today when we got the news that we could walk safety on deck, we started to work outside again. There was a lot of snow shoveling and salt spreading. Merle worked with the charthouse tarp, which took the whole day and 5 people to put on. We have to protect the vanish!! I was helping the catering in galley with making meatballs for lunch. We are chilling between the berth decks and enjoying the last days. Port watch got shore leave today, so we are hoping starboard watch is allowed to leave tomorrow. Now we have to do our fire round and wake up the people for the next shift. We will also enjoy two and a half hour of sleep before they come and wake us up 6.30.

Goodnight and see you soon
